Title

Australian Troops Eating American Coffee and Doughnuts

Description

Coffee and doughnuts were adopted by Australian civilians and soldiers alike, as Americans and Australians interacted on the home and fighting fronts. Coffee expanded as it took the place of tea after the beginning of rationing(1) and American-style coffee was preferred to the coffee previously brewed in Australia.(2) Doughnuts were welcomed as a pair with coffee.(3)
