Description

Australia adopted the role of ‘Food Arsenal of the Allied World’ in late 1942.(1) As a large, agricultural nation, distanced from direct combat, Australia was the prime choice of the allies to produce the food needed to sustain the war. Australia was committed, vowing to “rise to her responsibilities as food producer.”(2)
