Title

Canning Factory in Byron Bay

Description

This is just one example of one of many canneries throughout Australia.

Prior to the war, canning was uncommon, and introduced as a “new war industry.”(1) Canning vastly expanded during the war years; in 1944 alone over 600 million cans were produced, compared to 1938 figure of 10 million.(2)
